We’ve just updated all handbook types in The Driver Handbook app to include the latest government-endorsed motorway safety guidance, featuring Highways England’s biggest-ever campaign: Go Left!

This important campaign is aimed at ensuring drivers know exactly what to do if their vehicle breaks down on a motorway—particularly one without a hard shoulder. Breakdowns can happen suddenly, and the actions taken in those first few seconds can be life-saving.

It’s now available to view in all handbook types, including HGV, Van, Car, and PCV, for all app users.

The updated content includes:

• What to do if your vehicle develops a fault while driving on a motorway
• How to exit safely, using the hard shoulder or emergency refuge areas where possible
• What actions to take if you are unable to leave the live carriageway
• The importance of calling for help from a safe location, behind a barrier if available
